TikTok continues to shake up e-commerce in Europe at a pace that even established platforms are struggling to match. Following the official German rollout of its "Fulfillment by TikTok" program, the next expansion is already underway: a dedicated section for pre-owned goods is in the works—a direct challenge to players like eBay. At the same time, TikTok is grabbing headlines with new AI features and political developments. For over 15 years, Comsysto Reply has been building complex e-commerce solutions for clients across all industries. In parallel, we track and analyze relevant trends in our e-commerce lab to ensure we are ready for tomorrow's challenges today. We share our insights here—every Tuesday!
Logistics Offensive: Fulfillment by TikTok Now in Germany
With the rollout of "Fulfillment by TikTok," the company now offers a complete solution for merchants in Germany, including storage, shipping, and customer service. This increasingly positions TikTok as a full-fledged e-commerce platform. Anyone looking to sell on TikTok in the future can focus entirely on content and audience engagement—the platform handles the rest (original newsletter).

TikTok Goes Pre-Owned – Entering the World of Circular Commerce
This is just one reason why TikTok is currently one of the hottest contenders when it comes to the future of digital sales channels. Shortly after its launch, the next big step is already on the horizon: the TikTok Shop is set to add a section for pre-owned products (E-Commerce News).

In doing so, TikTok is tapping into one of the key e-commerce trends for 2025: circular commerce—the targeted marketing of refurbished goods—is considered one of the most important topics for the future (Shopware). TikTok clearly intends to be at the forefront of this movement.
Politics, Location, and Criticism: TikTok in Munich and Brussels
TikTok is becoming increasingly relevant not just economically, but politically as well. It is no surprise, then, that the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs actively campaigned for TikTok's European headquarters—and succeeded: the tech giant will be setting up shop in Munich (E-Commerce Magazine, BayStMD). As a company founded in Munich, this is naturally something we at Comsysto Reply GmbH are particularly pleased about, as is the responsible minister, Dr. Fabian Mehring:
With TikTok setting up here, we have pulled off another coup in establishing Munich as Germany's tech capital. Best of all, TikTok Shop will not only create jobs and generate value in the heart of our state capital, but will also strengthen Bavaria's small and medium-sized enterprises across all regions of the Free State with innovative retail solutions.
At the same time, TikTok remains controversial: consumer advocates continue to warn of data protection risks and potential legal violations (tagesschau), particularly regarding compliance with EU regulations (tagesschau). Retailers should therefore keep a close eye on how TikTok continues to develop in the European market – especially with regard to regulatory requirements.
AI as an innovation driver: New features with potential
Anyone who thinks TikTok is resting on its laurels is mistaken. Just at the beginning of May, a new feature was introduced that uses AI to turn static images into animated videos – an exciting tool for creators and brands looking to showcase their products even more impressively in the future (TikTok).

That’s it for today – and here’s what’s next
TikTok shows how social commerce is not just participating, but actively shaping the platform economy. From logistics and circular commerce to AI – this opens up enormous potential for retailers, but also raises new questions regarding data protection, trust, and platform dependency.
Currently, this channel is primarily relevant in the B2C sector. In upcoming issues, we will also continue to look at the topic of e-commerce through a B2B lens, as the market is no less dynamic there. It remains an exciting space!
